Job Description

Wellness Connection of Maine is a cannabis company operating in full compliance with state and local law. Our mission is to provide customers with the highest quality cannabis at a reasonable cost to them, to support customers’ full-spectrum wellness, and to foster education about cannabis throughout the state. We are currently hiring for Cultivation Assistants in our expanding production facility.

The main responsibilities of Cultivation Assistants are to provide the daily care of our crop from seed to harvest; monitor environmental inputs to maximize production and prevent failures, and maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and sterility inside the production area. Focused attention on all tasks is necessary in order to produce the highest quality cannabis for our customers. Successful candidates will possess a passion for horticulture, a willingness to get their hands dirty, and a desire to continually learn more about the industry. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to learn and grow with the Company from the ground up, and to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.

Responsibilities and Duties

The main responsibilities of the Cultivation Assistant include all aspects of the daily care of cannabis from seed/clone to harvest; monitoring environmental factors to maximize production and prevent failures; and maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation inside the cultivation area. 

Required Education

•    Knowledge of basic computer and office equipment

•    Math required for inventory, projections and measurements

•    Biology and chemistry related to plant growth and nutrition (preferred)

•    Excellent time management skills

•    Ability to plan and prioritize

•    Ability to maintain confidentiality

•    Ability to focus and pay attention to detail

•    Mechanical skill

•    Ability to work effectively as a team

•    Ability to communicate clearly and calmly

•    Ability to remain calm in high periods of stress

•    Absolute reliability and honesty

Required Experience

•    Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept additional projects or challenges. 1+ years experience in horticulture, botany, or manufacturing related field.

Physical Requirements

•    Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for a distance of 100 feet

•    Close visual focus required

•    Ability to spend extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching

•    This position requires the extended and repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers to cut and manipulate small objects

•    Must be a Maine resident

•    Must pass a drug test and background check 

•    Must be 21 years of age or older

Starting Pay: $18/hr

Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

For purposes of this Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, an individual is considered fully vaccinated when two weeks have passed following receipt of the second dose in a two-dose vaccination series (such as Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks have passed following a single-dose vaccination (such Johnson & Johnson). Additionally, candidates who accept an offer of employment will be provided with instructions for securely submitting proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to the individual’s start date, as well as the Company’s process for requesting and completing an applicable medical or religious exemption form. No medical documentation should be submitted to the Company prior to receiving such instructions from the Company’s recruiter or other designated human resources professional.
