Overview of Position

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting the Facilities Maintenance Manager in performing routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on the WCM facilities, mechanical equipment, and other growing systems. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is also the first point of contact for contractor escorts when necessary. The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance Technician is to perform maintenance and repairs on the production facilities, but will also be involved in renovations and repairs for all other WCM facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Performs minor and assists on major repairs of all buildings and equipment. Repairs can include emergency situations or scheduled repairs

· Under the guidance of the Facilities Maintenance Manager, troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement

· Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts

· Assists in completing daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures

· Assists in providing weekend coverage by taking a turn in the Maintenance Department’s weekend rotation remotely monitoring mechanical systems and responding for repairs as necessary

· Assists with inspecting and repairing HVAC and Chiller equipment at the user level

· Inspects and repairs hot water heaters, industrial dish washer, appliances, sinks, toilets, lockers, furniture, etc.

· Inspects and repairs plumbing leaks in the irrigation system

· Inspects and routinely replaces grow lights according to the rotating light replacement schedule

· Repairs grow tables

· Assists with maintaining air compressor and scientific chiller in support of WCM Extraction procedures

· May be scheduled to assemble and move furniture, hang pictures and bulletin boards, move and set up tables and chairs, replace broken windows, repair doors, door locks, etc. at any of the other WCM locations

· May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems

· Assists with installing electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed

· Assists with repairing electrical equipment and control circuits; replaces faulty electrical switches; repairs refrigeration/freezer equipment

· May assist in repairing electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security or coordinate with security service company for work beyond his/her expertise

· May install computer wiring/cables

· Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building and structures inside and out

· Performs outside custodial duties such as snow/ice removal as required

· Other duties may be assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager according to company needs

Qualifications

Education

· High school diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

· 3+ years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience

· Work history showing flexibility and willingness to accept additional projects or challenges

Required Knowledge

· Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair

· Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques

· Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of buildings

· Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions

Skills and Abilities

· Skill in reading and following blueprints and assembly instructions

· Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

· Skill in using hand and power tools

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

Physical Requirements

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear

· The employee is occasionally required to sit

· Ability to frequently lift and carry more than 100 pounds for a distance of 100 feet

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception

· This position requires a flexible schedule and more than 40 hours per week

· Must have a valid Maine State Driver’s License and reliable transportation

· Must pass a drug test and criminal background check (state mandated)

· Must hold a valid Office of Marijuana Policy, Maine Adult Use Marijuana Program Individual Identification Card
